About laser gum treatment

Plaque that isn't removed can harden into tartar (calculus), which irritates the gums and causes them to pull away from the teeth, forming pockets. Dr. Saboowala measures pocket depths at every new-patient exam and before every cleaning. Healthy gums measure one to three millimeters; deeper pockets indicate gum disease.

Poor oral care, some medications, genetics and smoking can all contribute. The earlier gum disease is caught, the simpler it is to treat.

Laser gum treatments

Laser Bacterial Reduction

A non-invasive, comfortable treatment that reduces the bacteria in the gum pockets around teeth.

Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy

Used during deep cleanings (scaling and root planing) to remove infected tissue, help pockets shrink and preserve bone.

Gum contouring

Precise reshaping of gum tissue after orthodontics, around implants, or for cosmetic reasons.

Cold & canker sores

Can reduce pain, swelling and healing time, and may help prevent an outbreak if treated early.

Common questions

What are the signs of gum disease?
Red, swollen or bleeding gums, bad breath, gums pulling away from the teeth and loose teeth are common signs. Early gum disease often has no symptoms, which is why regular check-ups matter.
Does laser gum treatment hurt?
Laser treatment is designed to be gentle. Most patients feel only a warm sensation, and healing is typically quick.
